The first face cord load of wood was burned up too fast so we got two face cords this time. Doug and I unloaded and stacked it Saturday. Its a good feeling to know we have plenty of firewood for awhile.
It took us awhile to stack it into piles hopefully we wont need to do it again this winter.
Note: A face cord or rick of wood is four feet high by eight feet long and is as wide as the individual firewood pieces, but averages 16 inches wide. A 16-inch wide face cord is equal to one-third of a full cord.

Hello Boys and Girls,
We have been burning wood since 1990 here on Centerville Road. I knew a cord was 4 ft. high but I did not know how long it was. So is a full cord 4ft by 8ft by 16in.? Or is 4by8by.16in.a third of a cord? Alright lets see if we can figure out how much wood we started with. 18ft*3layers*4.5 foot high= 243sq ft. and 12ft.*1layer *5ft high=60 sq.ft and 6ft*2 layer*4ft high=48 sq ft we also have spilt wood since then which I would say is 10ft * 1layer*5ft high= 50sq ft. for a total of 401sq ft
401/32 = 12.53 cords or do I divide this by 3.
We cut and spilt our own wood except for 3 truck loads at $55.00 per load. That we purchased in the summer, which Mike said was very cheap. Howmuch does it cost for a cord now?
THE BOTTOM LINE IS WE BURNED THE GAS COMPANY. HAHAHAHAHAHA Our last billwas $39.00.
Jim please respond with your knowledge.

a cord is 32 sq feet
so your 401 sq feet
would be 401/32 or 12.5 cords – if they are all cut 16 inches long.
a cord of already split and ready to burn wood is 70 – 75$
