I caught this bite sized catfish saturday while fishing under the train bridge in Byron. This little snack sized fish would have made for good baite but i released it hope it comes back in a few years when its a real fish and not just a minnow.

Had a little free time Tuesday so Doug and I went to Rock Cut to see what it was all about fishing there. It was a very hot day so we knew the water would be warm and the fishing might not be the best. floated around for a couple hours with verry little luck. When we had only about 1 hour before the park closed. I decided to try for some of the little bluegills near shore. I tossed out a red worm and a small #6 hook. and as soon as it hit the water a small bluegill sucked it up. was kinda fun because i had casted so far from the boat to get near shore. Since it didnt eat my worm i quickly casted near the same spot and the pole almost jumped out of my hand. I got that rush of energy that only a fisherman knows. I knew i had hooked somthing good. I reached for the net and saw the fish i yelped to doug that it was a BIG bass. I scooped it up with the net. It turned out to be a 5.5 lb bass the largest I had ever caught.
Somtimes the best fish are caught by pure luck No True Skill Involved

The minnows are still verry lively and swimming around after more then a full day. I am very impressed with the minnow bucket expecially with the high temp today. I am curious to how long the batterys will keep the air pump running.

I got a new minnow bucket that adds air to the water to help keep the minnows alive longer and it works great. I am not sure yet how long the batterys will last but I am going to find out. Its full of minnows now and after about 20 hours they are still very strong and active.

For some reason there are many ant hills building all over in the grass. I am not sure whats causing the ants to build so many ant hills in the yard. somthing is definately different this year then other years when it comes to ants.

Sunday night Doug and I tried to do a little fishing at a rest area between Byron and Oregon. It was a pretty nice rest area to fish we thought with the high water because the banks were tall enough to keep the land under our feet dry. On the picinic table where we put our tackle boxes we noticed a couple unusual and scarry spiders. I was able to snap a Pic of this one. Not sure what kind of spider it is but i sure didnt want to find it crawling on me.

I was alerted to orange flowers blooming around the house a couple nights ago. Its always exciting to me when a new flower appears. I though this picture would make for a nice addition to the pix collection here.

I had to cross the water covered road on my way to town to get dinner. I cant get over how quickly it happened. Hope we dont get a 2nd downfall of rain before i head home. I might need a boat to get there. hehe
